Regarding the Subjects of Zoosexuality
and Bestiality

Zoosexuality is defined as “A sexual orientation in which a human is sexually attracted to
animals”, while bestiality refers to physical cross-species sexual activity involving a human.
These clearly are meant to refer solely to non-human animals when the word “animal” is used,
as we humans sometimes tend to forget that we are still animals ourselves.Having now stated
the definitions of these two terms, I feel that I should take a step back. As with most highly
controversial subjects, it is important to address their historical significance.
History
Bestiality has been noted in the Bible (Lev 18:23: "And you shall not lie with any beast and
defile yourself with it, neither shall any woman give herself to a beast to lie with it: it is a
perversion." RSV), (20:15–16 "If a man lies with a beast, he shall be put to death; and you shall kill
the beast. If a woman approaches any beast and lies with it, you shall kill the woman and the beast;
they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them." RSV). Acts of bestiality have also been
recorded in paintings and sculptures dating back to around the 1st-3rd century A.D. One particular
sculpture made in 1752 shows Pan, the ancient Greek god of the wild, having sex with a goat.
